|Husband, buying me tasty ice cream from Jeni's walk up window|
Happy Meat Free Monday (sorta kinda because I talk about ice cream for a second), I had an awesome birthday.
After a fun happy hour at the Hey Hey with our favorite bartender, Pat, we popped down to Brown Bag for my favorite sandwich's and potato salad and you know what? My parents had called ahead and paid for our meal. They handed us a bag with a note from my parents and a cookie! I cried a little of course. Don't judge. It's how I roll these days. (Thanks Husband for scheming with my parents!)
Anyways, Brown Bag, per usual was awesome.
I had the half the Ben's Black and Blue (thinly sliced roast beef, Gorganzola and Swiss spread grilled on marbled rye,) with their roasted red skin potato salad. So good. I also had a Gus's Grown Up Soda Pop which was just what the bottle said, "Not too Sweet." It was basically fizzy cranberry juice. Awesome. The sandwich was just the right amount of roast beef (ie...not too much) and the "spread," was savory perfection. Not to mention their giant pickles. The perfect end to the meal. Strike that...Jenni's now has the most adorable walk up window next store. (With the friendliest people working there. ) THAT was the perfect end to the meal. Very nice indeed, Jeni. German Village has been waiting for you!! Please stay forever.
|A very nice selection|
I had a half scoop of the Queen City Cayenne and a half scoop of the Black Coffee. The Black Coffee was the perfect crisp balance (not sharp..just...CRISP) to the perfectly 'spicy,' and sweet Queen City Cayenne. In face, it was pretty much like a Mexican hot chocolate...and if you've never had one of those you should get on that stat. Preferably from the delightful City Lights in Charleston, S.C.
Anyawesome....after our ice cream we took a nice stroll home through our gorgeous neighborhood and I
slipped into a food coma took a nice hour long nap before heading back down the road for a bonfire with friends.
Because, I mean really, isn't this how all birthday's should end?
